// the tarmac · why
The walk isn't a workout. It's the only hour of your day where nobody emails you, nobody asks anything of you, and your brain runs out of distractions long enough to tell you the truth.
Steps are the foundation. Not a warm-up, not a starter level you graduate from. Don't find an easy version and stay there. Consistently do the thing that feels like a pointless grind, because that's the only thing that actually compounds.
I started walking at 4am because that's when the floor was coldest and the temptation to stay on it was loudest. The streak isn't vanity. It's proof to yourself that you can do one boring thing every day without anyone clapping.
The point is not the steps. The point is that you got up before the part of you that didn't want to.

// who built this
I'm Toby. I built a business, lost my health, and learned most of what I knew about success was rented from people who vanished when it got hard. The good news is you don't need them.
